Finnebassen

Passion, determination and success – all words that come to mind when thinking of the Norwegian powerhouse that is Finnebassen.
His meteoric rise in the current music scene is unprecedented, especially from a guy who first expressed his love for music through learning to play guitar, before defecting to electronica and finding a love for house. But not just any kind of house – that burgeoning, deep, melancholic house which he has now become famed for.
It is hard to believe it was only back in 2012 that Finnebassen had his first release – when UK label Electronique took hold of his own production ‘If You Only Knew’ and released along with a number of remixes. But it was later that year, with his Noir music release ‘Second Chances and Romances’ EP, that people really started to sit up and take notice of this emerging star. ‘Touching Me’ proved the most popular track from the EP as it reached the number one spot on Beatport’s Deep House chart, and was also played by Pete Tong, on Radio 1, in his ‘Wonderments’ section. And it is since then that the station, and Pete Tong himself, have been avid supporters of Finnebassen’s career – something that Pete personally explained on introducing the Finnebassen Essential Mix in August 2014. Seen as a true induction in to the house music elite, this game changing mix was welcomed with critical acclaim.
Numerous labels have released Finnebassen originals and remixes over the past few years, with success being found on NastyFunk, Acid Fruits, Voltaire, OFF Recordings, House of Disco, and Culprit. The latter was an astute remix for the
Bambook track ‘Humble Hearts’, which was given the Finnebassen spin in to pulsing yet atmospheric tech-house.
Topping them all was certainly his own creation ‘Villa’ – released on a two-track ‘Milestone’ EP with Poesie Musik, sister label to Get Physical. This track harks back to classic Finnebassen, that slow, melodic, dream-like house. Looking ahead, the future is certainly just as bright for Finnebassen, with lots of exciting projects in the pipeline, including a remix for house heavyweights Disclosure. Coming in January on PMR Records, it is merit to him that he is considered skillful enough to give his own, alternative spin on such a highly anticipated release Multiple cities across the globe have now succumbed to the sounds of Finnebassen, including jaunts to America and Brazil, an Ibizan residency and multiple venue sets across the UK. Not bad for someone who started out by playing local clubs in his hometown of Oslo.
After achieving so much in such a short period of time, the sky really is the limit for Finnebassen. His beautiful music and passion for production speaks for itself, and it really is no wonder that people are queuing up to sign his work.
